Is Bing a threat to Google SE?

Microsoft has launched a new search engine – Bing, basing on the live search engine. It is understand that Microsoft set to invest an $80 million to $100 million campaign for this search engine, and the expenses will include online, TV, print, and radio advertising publications. I would consider this as a very big budget compared with consumer-product launches ($50 million is considered a sizable budget for a national rollout). As report in 2008, Google gave out USD25 million in the campaigns, thus we can see that Microsoft push hardly on promoting this Bing search engine.

The bing impressed me in my first sight. The first thing is that information searcher can now see the latest article and relates site link when pointing the red dot in the Bing SERP.

Furthermore, the search history is now available on the left vertical menu. Users may choose to clear off, turn off or remains the history of your searches. Regarding the images search, the Bing does much better than what Google is doing. Users can customize their search by setting conditions in layout, color, style and facial parts. Same for the images search, video searches can also be customized according to its length, screen size, resolution and source! Of cause, Google provides an advanced search engine for search customization, however, the Bing search engine is still more user-friendly than Google’s.

In addition, the shopping features in nothing new to the live.com’s shop. Unfortunately, the shop only supports US based customer and the other countries were yet to be entertained.

Will Bing bring a strong competition to Google? At least not for this year, take into account the Google strong market share and the already-built user experience.
